Engineering Division
Mission Statement
This division is responsible
for providing engineering and technical services to support the programs
and activities of the Department of Public Services.
Responsible for coordinating road improvement projects between the County, cities
and townships and the Michigan Department of Transportation, including road improvement
requests originating from cities and townships; conducting meetings with representatives
of public and private agencies regarding projects of mutual interest; preparing
plans, specifications and bidding documents for road, bridge, building, culvert
and other public improvement projects which fall within DPS responsibility; and
exercising general supervision over all construction to ensure compliance with plans
and specifications.

Recent Accomplishments
- Designed and administered the construction and tested materials for a $567 million
rehabilitation of the Wayne County Grosse Ile Bridge over the Trenton Channel.
- Monitored design, administered the construction and tested materials for the $12
million construction of a new grade separation bridge on Sheldon Road at the CSX
railroad.
- Developed Permit Assist, a computerized application that tracks construction permit
applications and their associate permits.
- Updated and published the Wayne County Permits Standards and Specifications
