Roads Division
Mission Statement
Wayne County Roads Division will continue to improve the efficiency and technology
in which it maintains the roads and highways in Wayne County and also to protect
and extend its useful life, ensure the safety of public travel and its employee
who provide this service.
2007-08 Accomplishments
- Paved approximately 17 miles of county local gravel roads and used approximately 53,022 tons of asphalt
- Cleared approximately 10 miles (53,402 lineal feet) of right-of-way ditches
- Conducted winter maintenance activities on the county and state road systems, utilizing approximately 191,748 tons of salt during the 2007-08 winter season
- Repaired/replaced approximately 5,023 lineal feet of guardrail
- Approximately 5,497 trees were removed, approximately 31 trees were planted, responded to approximately 1,498 service requests and issued 49 tree planting/removal permits
- 42 traffic signal intersections were modernized
- Approximately 2,824 new traffic signs were installed on county and state roadways
- Over 41,612 lineal feet of plastic pavement markings were placed on county roadways
- Approximately 144,833 potholes were filled, utilizing 4,345 tons of cold patch material
