Frequently Asked Questions
Getting out on the green is great for the body and mind.
Unlike many sports, golf is not discriminating when it comes to a player's size, shape or age, which is why Kathy Alexander, Ph.D., an avid golfer and a Vanderbilt University exercise physiologist, says that golf may be the first step many sedentary types take toward getting in shape. "Golf is good exercise on it's own, since you do a lot of walking."
Another perk: All those hours of concentrating on putting that ball in each of those 18 small holes really improves your focus. "That's a skill that goes from the course to the rest of your life," notes Dr. Alexander.
