The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel is the only vehicular international subaqueous border crossing in the world. It has been recognized as one of the great engineering wonders of the world and remains one of the busiest crossings between the United States and Canada. Detroit River International
Crossing Study
The Detroit River International Crossing Study and Project is an effort to create a new border crossing between the United States and Canada along the Detroit River. The Canada-U.S.-Ontario-Michigan Border Transportation Partnership (the Partnership) consists of the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, Transport Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Detroit Intermodal Freight Terminal
The goal of the Detroit Intermodal Freight Terminal (DIFT) project is to develop a regional intermodal facility with sufficient capacity to provide for existing and future demand, at the same time supporting the residential neighborhoods and businesses of Southwest Detroit/East Dearborn, consistent with a number of terminal development and community development objectives.
