The mission of Wayne County Head Start is to optimize the potential and diverse strengths of children, families, and communities for a better tomorrow.

PROGRAMS

Head Start Program Management Program Services
The purpose of Administration and Program Management is to provide administrative and fiscal support, leadership, training, technical assistance, and regulatory oversight to five contracted community agencies and a human resources vendor so that 3,723 eligible children and families receive high quality services as mandated by the Head Start Performance Standards.
Family and Community Partnership Program Services
Education and Early Childhood Development Program Services

What Head Start Offers You and Your Child:

A premier preschool program for children of income eligible families
Your child will receive a preschool program at no cost that is worth over $7600 per year if you had to pay for it yourself
A learning environment sensitive to children’s individual and group needs
Activities fostering cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development
Inclusion of children with disabilities
A variety of ways for parents to volunteer and participate in their child’s learning
Medical and dental services for children
Nutritious snacks and meals
Parents receive support in developing job skills
Head Start provides parent support in building healthy relationships though a Health Marriage/Health Relationship Grant
