Wayne County Head Start operates 3 policy groups:

The Wayne County Head Start Governing Board membership includes representatives from Wayne County and the Policy Council Chairperson. The Governing Board is legally responsible for the oversight of Wayne County Head Start. The Governing Board meets monthly on the 1st Monday of each month.

Wayne County Head Start Policy Council

Established at the Grantee level, the Policy Council is comprised of current parents from each Delegate Agency and community representative. Community Representatives include representation from the Wayne County Child Care Coordinating Council, Girl Scouts of Metro Detroit, Access, the Epilepsy Foundation, the Great Start Collaborative, and the Wayne County Department of Health and Human Services. The Policy Council meets monthly on the 1st Wednesday of each month.

Delegate Policy Committee

Each Head Start Delegate must form a Policy Committee, which includes current parents and representatives from local community agencies. The Policy Committee elects representatives to the Head Start Policy Council.
