Fetal Infant Mortality Review

The Wayne County Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Team aims to prevent infant deaths through better understanding of environmental, social, and economic factors leading to infant death. The Team reviews infant death cases to gather information that will help them understand the causes of infant death, and to reduce the rates of infant death.

Infant Vitality Action Network

The Infant Vitality Action Network (IVAN) is a collaborative effort between the Wayne County Department of Public Health and the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion. IVAN is the community action team that implements the findings and recommendations of both departments' FIMR teams.

Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control

The health and lifestyles of parents play an important role in the health of infants. Some diseases can be passed from pregnant women to their unborn infants. Testing and treatment for STDs is performed in our Wayne and Taylor health centers. This includes tests for syphilis, gonorrhea, and Chlamydia. Health center locations and hours are listed below.

Free, anonymous, and confidential testing is also available for  HIV/AIDS. Call our confidential hotline at  (734) 727-7124.

Family Planning Services

Planning in advance for a new member of the family is very important for the health of women and babies. The Wayne County Department of Public Health offers family planning services at its health centers in Wayne, Taylor, and Redford.
