Maria
Miller began her career as a Wayne County assistant prosecutor
assigned to the Trial Division. For the majority of her career she has been a special
assignment prosecutor. She has been assigned to the Prosecutor's Repeat Offender's
Bureau (PROB), the Child and Family Abuse Bureau and the Special Investigations
Division of the Prosecutor's Office. Her assignments have included prosecutions
of homicides, repeat sexual offenders, and other complex litigation including police
misconduct and public corruption. Several of her trials have been featured on Court
T.V. Currently she is the Director of Communications Unit. In this capacity she
is a liaison to the press, coordinates media related projects and receives special
assignments from Prosecutor Worthy.
Ms. Miller is currently an advisor to the State Bar of Michigan Committee on Character
and Fitness for 2009 through 2010. She has been a Special Assistant United States
Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, a faculty member for the Prosecuting
Attorneys Coordinating Counsel of Michigan, and a guest lecturer at the University
of Michigan Law School and Wayne State University Medical School.
Ms. Miller received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and
her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.
