Bureau of Investigations

The Bureau of Investigations is the investigative arm of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. The Bureau consists of state certified law enforcement officers who support the prosecuting attorneys and provide investigative skills and experience. Some of our detectives come from other law enforcement organizations such as the Detroit Police Department Homicide and Narcotics sections and the Michigan State Police Department as well as the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency). In addition to conducting investigations for prosecutors, these officers also provide security for the office.

Detectives conduct investigations at the request of the Prosecutors. These investigations range from homicide to public corruption or from extortion to open meetings act violations. The detectives work in conjunction with the 43 police agencies throughout the County of Wayne. In addition, officers assigned to the Wayne County Prosecutors’ Office also assist federal law enforcement agencies.
