Frequently Asked Questions
Q. If I am the victim of a crime, what should I do?
A. You should first make a report of the crime to the local police department. If the crime happened in the community where you live go to your police department. If the crime occurred in another community, contact that community's police department.
Q. When I go to the police department what will happen?
A. The officer who takes your report will ask you some questions which may include the following. What happened? Where did it happen? When did it happen? Who committed the crime? Did anyone else see what happened? Do you know the people involved? Do you know how the people involved can be contacted?
Q. Will the person who committed the crime be arrested?
A. Sometimes the person has already been arrested by the police. If not the police may have to wait until they complete their investigation and the prosecutor will then ask a judge or magistrate to issue a warrant.
