General Trials Division
The General Trials Division of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office is responsible for the Circuit Court adjudication of all felony cases not assigned to special units within the Office. There are four teams within the General Trials Division. Either a Principal Attorney or Deputy Chief manages each team. The four teams staff and handle all of the trial courtrooms (22) and are also responsible for covering the four (4) Arraignment on the Information (AOI) Courts. The General Trials Division is therefore responsible for the majority of the cases in 26 courtrooms. These cases range in seriousness from Larceny and simple Possession of Drugs, to Armed Robbery, Criminal Sexual Conduct-First Degree and First Degree Murder.

Q. How long does it take until the case is resolved?
A. Most cases are resolved within 90 days of the Arraignment on the Information.
Q. Can I get restitution?
A. Judges can order restitution as part of a sentence. Victims must supply documentation of loss.
Q. Will Defendants have my personal information?
A. No. Defendants are not given personal information such as addresses, phone numbers, and social security numbers.
Q. If the police have recovered my property, when can I get it back?
A. In some instances, property can be returned prior to trial. In most cases, personal property will be returned at the conclusion of the case.
