Sheriff says parole absconder was seeking sex online from who he thought was 15-year-old boy

Suspect, 29, had prior convictions for credit card fraud

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 29-year-old Detroit man investigators say had arranged a sexual encounter with who he thought was a 15-year-old boy, Sheriff Warren C. Evans announced today.

Todd Robinson-Jordan was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a pre-arranged meet location just outside of Detroit. He was arraigned Friday on three counts of Illegal Use of the Internet and one count of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, which carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Robinson-Jordan also was charged as a habitual offender for having absconded from parole in 2006 following a conviction for credit card fraud in Oakland County.

“The suspect’s side of the chat conversations, which went on for a period of months leading up to his arrest, were extremely graphic and went into great detail about what he wanted to do to this young boy,” Evans said. “He left no doubt that he believed he was communicating with a child and that he had very serious sexual plans in mind.”

Evans said that according to his chats, Robinson-Jordan planned to take the boy back to his home in Detroit and have multiple sexual encounters with the child.  When deputies searched the vehicle Robinson-Jordan arrived in at the pre-arranged meet location, they found a large supply of sexual lubricants and condoms.

“His criminal history clearly indicates that he has a deceptive nature and I am convinced that if it had been an actual child on the other side of those chat conversations, that boy would have been in for a whole lot more trouble than just sexual abuse.”

Robinson-Jordan is being held at the Wayne County Jail on $200,000 cash bond. His preliminary examination is scheduled for March 3rd in Hamtramck District Court.
