Deputies nab first online predator of 2005
39-year old Rochester man thought he was chatting with 13-year old girl
Less than two weeks into the New Year, Wayne County Sheriff Internet Deputies have arrested another suspected online child predator, Sheriff Warren Evans said today.
Evans said that the latest suspect, a 39-year-old Rochester man, thought he was meeting a 13-year-old girl for sex. Tuesday evening, deputies arrested Christopher Bucy at a prearranged meeting location in western Wayne County after arriving in his silver Dodge pickup truck.
“This individual had been chatting online since September with what he thought was a 12-year-old girl,” Evans said. “At the time of his arrest, he believed the girl had just had her 13th birthday.”
According to investigators, Bucy planned to take the girl back to his home in Oakland County and have sex with her, then return her the meet location, which supposedly was within walking distance from her home. Evans also said that Bucy stated in his chats with the undercover officer that he intended to take nude photographs of the girl. After making the arrest, deputies executed a search warrant on Bucy’s home and seized his personal computer and digital camera as evidence.
Bucy, a divorced father of two adult sons, is being held at the Wayne County jail on $200,00 cash bond. He was arraigned Thursday morning in 31st District Court on charges of Illegal Use of the Internet, attempted child sexually abusive activity and manufacturing of child pornography. If convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison.
Evans said that Bucy, who works as a seasonal laborer, had chatted with his officer since September of last year. At the time the chats began, the officer was posing as a 12-year old girl, but indicated that she her 13th birthday was shortly after New Year’s Day.
Bucy is the 61st online predator arrested in Wayne County since Sheriff Evans took office two years ago. His Internet Crime Unit maintains a 100-percent conviction rate.
