Sheriff’s Deputy helps revive Grosse Pointe
man who had apparently overdosed in his car
A Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy, along with an officer from
the Michigan State police this afternoon helped revive a man they
had found unconscious in his car near the Detroit-Dearborn border.
According to Sheriff Warren Evans, the officers, who had been
working together on joint warrant enforcement sweep, found the
29-year old Grosse Pointe man slumped over in his car on Plymouth
Road over the Southfield Freeway.
When they noticed he was not responsive, Sheriff’s Office
Cpl. Brian Farris and Michigan State Police trooper Tom Wojton
began administering CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Evans
said that the man stopped breathing twice before the officers were
able to revive him and keep him responsive.
Officers on the scene indicated that the man had suffered an apparent
heroine overdose. The man was taken to Oakwood Hospital for treatment.
Evans commended the officers for their quick thinking. “It’s
apparent that the extensive training these officers have received
kicked in and they performed admirably,” Evans
said. “I commend each of the officers on the scene for their
quick thinking and outstanding effort.”
