National Transportation Week - Wayne County Expo May 18, 2007

First Wayne County Transportation Expo set for May 18 (Get Event Flyer)

To help observe National Transportation Week (May 13-18), the first Wayne County Transportation Education Expo will take an exciting look to the future and a nostalgic ride in the past from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 18 at Nankin Mills in Westland. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Exhibits will range from a plug-in hybrid automobile and an electric car to several custom cars, award-winning bridge displays and the latest technological advancements in the transportation industry. A classic car show will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. followed by a cruise along Hines Drive beginning at 4 p.m.

Exhibitors include Ford Motor Co., the Engineering Society of Detroit, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Washtenaw Community College, Grand Valley State University, Lawrence Technological University and Eastern Michigan University. Other exhibitors are the Golightly Career and Technical Center, Davis Aerospace High School, Southeastern Technical High School, the Breithaupt Career and Technical Center and Livonia Franklin High School.

The Redford Rolling Thunder Club will feature more than 30 classic autos for the cruise along Hines Drive. Families are invited to enjoy the exhibits and car show and watch the cruise.

Nankin Mills is located on Hines Drive, east of Ann Arbor Trail. Refreshments will be available.
