Wayne County cuts ribbon, signaling completion of eight-month bridge project
Wayne County today opened the county-operated Grosse Ile Bridge, a project that started in May and links the island township to the mainland in Trenton. The $5.7 million project provided new bridge decking, sidewalks and curbing, guardrails and extensive work below the bridge deck. The project also included 14,000 pounds of bolts and nearly 26,000 square feet of new steel grating. Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano was joined in a ribbon cutting by civic officials from Trenton, Grosse Ile, Riverview and the Wayne County Commission. The bridge opened officially at noon.
