Plante Moran begins 90-day process review at request of Wayne County Treasurer

DETROIT – July 20, 2017 -- Wayne County Treasurer Eric R. Sabree is pleased to announce that the national accounting and management firm Plante Moran has begun an “operational audit” of the Office of the Wayne County Treasurer.

“We are very pleased to have a full audit of operations of the Wayne County Treasurer’s office and I know that everyone on my team is equally excited to push forward with better means and methods of serving Wayne County taxpayers,” Sabree said.

The operational audit will review and assess all processes and procedures currently in practice by staff. The review will also look at applicable statutes, ordinances and current written policies, to determine whether there are best practice improvements that may be adopted.

The Treasurer’s office will review findings of the Plante Moran team this fall and implement process improvements as warranted. “The Treasurer’s office is committed to best practices and transparency in government,” said Sabree.

The 90-day review by Plante Moran of the operations of the Wayne County Treasurer’s office was the result of a Request For Proposal (RFP) issues by direction of Treasurer Sabree in the fall of 2016.  Plante Moran was one of six firms responding to the RFP and after exhaustive review they were chosen for the project.
