News --- Wayne County Department of Public Health to Offer Flu Shots

Wayne, Mich. - The Wayne County Department of Public Health announced Tuesday it will take appointments at its three health clinics for residents who want to get the flu shot.

Appointments will be taken for shots being given Friday, December 9; Monday, December 12; and Tuesday, December 13 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The cost of the vaccine is $10 for those who are able to pay.

To schedule an appointment, Wayne County residents should call the County health clinic nearest them. Clinic locations and phone numbers are:

  • Dearborn: 313-216-2201
  • Taylor: 734-955-3900
  • Wayne: 734-727-7100

Wayne County holds flu clinics each December.

Nationwide delays in the delivery of vaccine this year have made it difficult for some adults to find a shot. Public Health Director Anahid Kulwicki said that state health officials were able to locate more doses and made them available to local health departments and private doctors. Wayne County has already administered nearly 1,000 doses to high-risk residents.

The typical flu season runs November to April, and the flu shot can be given through the end of December. For more information, call the Wayne County Department of Public Health at 734-727-7000.
