News --- County Executive Robert A. Ficano Honors Former County Executive Edward McNamara
"On behalf of the citizens and employees of Wayne County, I want to express our condolences to the family of Mr. McNamara. Our collective prayers and thoughts are with them. Mr. McNamara was a leader not just for Wayne County but for the state and the entire nation. He was a man of strong convictions who worked tirelessly for Wayne County. His vision and leadership resulted in building the new Metro-airport terminal which has become a major hub for domestic and international travel. He is also credited with helping build the two new sports stadiums in downtown Detroit. Mr. McNamara spearheaded economic development investments that continue to expand and grow the region and the state. His legacy is far reaching and leaves an unsurpassed imprint on Wayne County and the state of Michigan. In honor of Mr. McNamara, the flags at all Wayne County buildings will be at half-staff through Friday, February 24." --- Robert A. Ficano, County Executive |
