This
picnic area sits along the Rouge River. The historic comfort
station, like many of the other historic stations in Hines Park,
was fashioned after a Train Station.
Its great gable roof can
easily be seen along Hines Drive in Plymouth Township.
This area
is suitable for small groups only. Parking is limited. There
is no play equipment or shelter. In the 1920s this station
was one of the first comfort stations constructed as a series
of rest stops for travelers. During this time the concept of
roadside development was being pioneered by the Wayne County
Road Commission who also were the first Park Trustees. |
