Wayne County's Response to Channel 7 Allegations

The allegations by Channel 7 that Wayne County is misspending roads funds are reckless and baseless.  We provided their reporters with substantive evidence showing that the employees in question are in fact tied to multiple roads projects, and properly paid from the roads budget. 

In addition, our internal and external auditors, as well as MDOT have confirmed that all of the money in the roads budget is being used as intended for roads projects.

The motivation for these allegations - made by disgruntled former employees and others with an axe to grind - is clearly political. 

Channel 7 had plenty of evidence to make them seriously doubt the veracity of these allegations, and by knowingly reporting false or half-baked allegations, they participated in this sham and should be held accountable.
