Executive Division

The Sheriff, Undersheriff, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief, Legal Advisor and Commanders provide the general direction, coordination, and control of the work products of the divisions. They provide administrative guidance and policy direction to all staff members of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

There are several units that are housed and/or operate from the Administration Building, some of which are:

DRUG ENFORCEMENT


Through covert operations the Drug Enforcement Unit enforces state drug laws throughout the County and acts in concert with federal law enforcement agencies for the betterment of the County of Wayne and it's residents.

MORALITY UNIT

This is a self funding squad whose law enforcement efforts focus on prostitution and nuisance activities where they occur in Wayne County. Those who violate these laws are required to pay for their arrest and prosecution. This unit relies heavily on information provided by citizens who observe such activities in their neighborhoods. The citizens of Wayne County are well served by this unit.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS

The Internal Affairs Section reports directly to the Undersheriff. It investigates crimes within the jails and allegations of on-duty or off-duty misconduct by officers and civilians of the department. This section assures that the Sheriff's personnel adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Responsible for developing and maintaining programs in the area of police community relations. Members make presentations to groups of all age levels on a variety of topics including crime prevention, school safety, drunk driving, handgun safety, and drug education. Members also prepare and man displays at public events.

TRAINING

The Training Unit reports to the Deputy Chief. It is responsible for providing all divisions with academy and in-service training. Specific duties include scheduling of training programs, development of programs and coordination of the Field Training Officer Program.

FINANCE, PERSONNEL & PUBLIC INFORMATION

These administrative support units report to the Chief of Staff and provide vital services to the other divisions, such as budget projections, billings, payroll, materials management, and personnel management.
