Mounted Patrol Division

The Mounted SectionResponsible for general patrol in county parks. Members frequently participate in parades, festivals and other special events.

The Wayne County mounted division was created by Warren Evans in the 1970's when he was an officer in the Sheriff's Office.

The unit currently has six officers and four horses, which are used in a variety of capacities, including crowd control, ceremonial events and as an effective community relations tool. The department also has an eight-member unit of Reserve Officers, each of whom provide his own horse and receives similar training.
