Responsible for general patrol in county parks. Members
frequently participate in parades, festivals and other special
events.
The Wayne County mounted division was created by Warren Evans
in the 1970's when he was an officer in the Sheriff's Office.
The unit currently has six officers and four horses, which are
used in a variety of capacities, including crowd control, ceremonial
events and as an effective community relations tool. The department
also has an eight-member unit of Reserve Officers, each of whom
provide his own horse and receives similar training.
