09/16/08 - Deputies arrest 27-year-old man seeking sex with 15-year-old girl
Dearborn resident has been in the country only 6 months, faces deportation.
Ahmed Al-Mahdy, an Iraqi national who has been in the United States only six months, faces possible deportation if convicted of Illegal Use of the Internet & Child Sexually Abusive Activity, which are punishable to up to 20 years in prison. Evans said similar cases have resulted in the deportation of at least six men over the past five years.

DETROIT, Michigan - ThruVision Ltd. and First Response Solutions Inc., in cooperation with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, announced today the deployment of ThruVision’s passive people screening security system at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, which houses the county’s criminal court division. Officials say that necessary security screening will become both more effective and less intimidating with the introduction of ThruVision’s T4400 system, a passive terahertz imaging technology for the screening of people entering security-sensitive facilities such as airports, courthouses and stadiums. » continue

In separate cases on Thursday and Friday, deputies arrested three men, two of whom are not US citizens and likely will face deportation if convicted. Over the past five years, the Sheriff’s Internet Crime Unit has maintained a 100 percent conviction rate in its cases, thanks to solid investigative work and diligent prosecutors, Evans said. Late last week, Gregory Finley, a drug dealer from River Rouge, was bound over for trial on charges that he sold the fatal dose of fentanyl-laced heroin to Billy Joe Towle, 19, of Riverview, who died in the basement of his family’s home on September 26, 2006, after injecting the drug he allegedly purchased from Finley. Todd Robinson-Jordan was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a pre-arranged meet location just outside of Detroit. He was arraigned Friday on three counts of Illegal Use of the Internet and one count of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, which carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Robinson-Jordan also was charged as a habitual offender for having absconded from parole in 2006 following a conviction for credit card fraud in Oakland County. » continue

Late last week deputies worked with the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force in Phoenix to locate and arrest Brandon Boscarino, 27, who was convicted three years ago of trying to arrange sex with an undercover Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. Officers took Boscarino into custody at his home in Scottsdale, just outside Phoenix. He was convicted in 2004 and served a year in the Wayne County Jail, but fled the state shortly after being released on probation and failing to attend sex offender counseling classes. » continue
