Tech director at Saginaw Catholic K-8 school arrested in cyber
sex sting
A 46-year old Saginaw, MI resident who works as the director of
technology at St. Thomas Aquinas elementary school in that city,
was arrested Thursday after undercover Wayne County Sheriff’s
deputies say he arranged to have sex with what he thought was
a 14-year old girl, according to Sheriff Warren Evans.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Stephen Rademacher Thursday
afternoon in Wayne County after he showed up for a meet, which
he arranged after chatting online with a deputy for about one week.
When Rademacher arrived at the meeting place, he had with him condoms
and a variety of other sexual aids, a bottle of baby oil and a
six-pack of Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
This is the second suspect in a week arrested by the county’s
Internet Crime Unit that has come from outside metro Detroit for
an Internet sting. Last Friday, 29-year old Adam Goodrow from Jackson
was arrested in Detroit in a similar bust.
“That says a lot about the determination of some of these
online sexual predators,” Evans said. “We’ve
had people come from as far away as Indiana and California intending
to have sex with a 14-year old girl. Parents need to understand
just how at risk their children are if they are not careful.”
Evans said his investigators seized Rademacher’s computer
this morning, which will be checked for evidence of the chats on
his hard drive. Rademacher is being held at the Wayne County jail
on $250,000 bond after being charged with two counts of Illegal
Use of the Internet. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison
and automatic placement on the state’s Sex Offender Registry.
