Sheriff's investigation leads to weeklong closure of topless bar
| --- |
7-day suspension after undercover deputies witness illegal sex acts |
Wayne County Sheriff's Office today stripped a local topless bar of its ability to conduct adult entertainment or serve liquor for the next week as a result of numerous violations at the establishment. Following a series of undercover investigations by sheriff's deputies in 2004, the state Liquor control commission recently ordered that the Flight Club, which is located on Michigan Avenue in Inkster, be stripped of its license for seven days.
According to the Sheriff's office, it had received numerous complaints about illegal activity occurring at the club in May of 2004. On June 4th, deputies raided the establishment after undercover officers had witnessed dancers and patrons engaged in simulated sex acts. At the time, ten women were cited.
On July 8th, undercover sheriff's deputies returned to the club and observed even worse behavior, including two people engaged in a sex act. This time, 12 women were cited and one male patron, whose wedding was scheduled for the next day, was arrested.
As a result of the Sheriff's Office's enforcement, the Liquor Control Commission held hearings, at which it was agreed upon by all parties that the Flight Club's license be suspended for one week for its violations.
The suspension will be in effect from July 1-7. The club may remain open to serve food, but the Sheriff's Office will return regularly to make sure the owners of the Flight Club are not violating the LCC order.
