Commander Jerome S. Panackia has served the citizens of Wayne County in the Sheriff’s Office since May of 1983. As an Officer, Commander Panackia was assigned to the following Divisions: Jails, Courts, Airport and the Road Patrol Division. During his tour as a Deputy he received advanced training which included Hostage Negotiations and Police Motorcycle Operator.
In 1996 he was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Sheriff’s Jail Division, first being assigned to the Andrew Baird Facility and then transferred to the William Dickerson Detention Facility. As a Sergeant, he continued working as a Hostage Negotiator as the supervisor in charge, he also continued as a motorcycle operator for special events.
He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000 and then Executive Lieutenant in 2003. As the Executive Lieutenant in Jail One Support Services, Sheriff Warren Evans awarded him a commendation for his efforts in reorganizing the staffing levels and reducing costs. In January 2005, he became the Program Administrator for the Sheriff’s Reserves Division.
In 2006, Sheriff Warren C. Evans appointed him to his current position of Commander over Court Operations, Deed Fraud Investigative Unit, Sheriff’s Regional Dispatch Center, Sheriff’s Police Property section and the Sheriff’s Reserve Division.
In addition to his training and experiences throughout his law enforcement career, Commander Panackia has attended Schoolcraft Community College and the University of Phoenix where he studied Criminal Justice. Throughout his career he has been awarded several citations and commendations from the Sheriff’s Office, area Police Agencies, a local radio station and the Wayne County Commission. |
