Command Staff Jadie Settles - Commander, Drug Enforcement / Morality
In November of 2006 he was promoted to the position ofDeputy Chief of Field Operations. He supervises the operation of the Road Patrol, Highland Park Patrol, Warrant Enforcement, Narcotics Unit, Morality Unit, Internet Crimes, Special Services, Mounted Unit, Auto Theft Units, and the Marine Division. The majority of his police experience has been in the Field Operations Section where he was assigned to a street enforcement narcotics crew, Secondary Roads Shift Sergeant, DEA Interdiction Taskforce and The CHIEF Taskforce. He has also served as an alternate steward and trustee for local 502 and a steward for local 3317. In 2005 Commander Settles received the Sheriff’s Distinguished Leadership Award, in addition, he has received Departmental Commendations for Meritorious and Valuable Service Performed in the Line of Duty. He has attended Highland Park C.C. from 1978 to 1980 and has been in Field Operations for eighteen of the twenty-three years of service within the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. |

Commander Settles started his law enforcement career with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office December 3 rd, 1984. He graduated from the Sheriff’s Office police academy in August 1988. Since graduating from the police academy he has served in several capacities throughout the department beginning with jail security officer, police sergeant, police lieutenant, executive lieutenant, and police commander. In addition to the aforementioned positions he has served as a shift lieutenant with the airport police in 2002.
