Robert Dickerson has been with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department since October of 1983. At that time, at the age of 18, Dickerson was the youngest deputy ever hired in the history of the Department. Throughout the years he has worked in numerous Divisions and Units within the Sheriff’s Office including the Jails, Airport, Narcotics, K-9, and the Executive Division. He was also assigned to an undercover Federal Drug Task Force for several years. During these assignments, and working his way up the ranks, he attended Schoolcraft College and Eastern Michigan University and holds a degree in Criminal Justice. In 1996, Dickerson was nominated for and completed a one-year Leadership Fellowship at Michigan State University and in 2005 was nominated for and completed the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. Currently, as Chief of Administrative Operations, Dickerson oversees areas in the Department such as Special and Inspectional Services, the Administrative Investigation Units, Homeland Security, Special Projects and Details, Information Technology, Statistics and Research and he serves as the Departments Budgetary Compliance Monitor and the Legislative Liaison.
