The October 2007 Wayne County Auction of tax-foreclosed properties came to a close shortly before noon on Wednesday, Oct. 24, after the final listed property was offered for sale. Although the auction had originally been scheduled to run from Oct. 23-26, there was no need to continue beyond noontime Wednesday since there were no more properties left to auction.continue

In a final attempt to reach out to Wayne County taxpayers whose homes have been foreclosed upon due to non-payment of delinquent 2004 property taxes, Wayne County Treasurer Raymond J. Wojtowicz will be sending representatives from his office throughout this week and next to do personal visits to meet face-to-face with the owners and renters of 1934 properties whose 2004 delinquent property taxes remained unpaid by the April 3, 2007 deadline. continue
Residents now have until April 30 to file applications. Recognizing that Wayne County residents are facing extraordinarily tough economic times due to a troubled state and local economy, Wayne County Treasurer, Raymond J. Wojtowicz, has extended the previous March 15, 2007 deadline to file an application for a property tax hardship extension until April 30, 2007. Residents should be aware that if their application is approved, this does not give them an exemption from paying property taxes. Instead, anyone receiving a hardship extension will merely be granted up to one extra year to pay his or her delinquent 2004 property taxes. Related fees and penalties will still apply. continue

However, in recognition of the huge volume of crowds expected to be downtown for baseball’s opening day at Comerica Park on April 2, and the demand for parking, the Treasurer will accept payments received or post-marked Tuesday, April 3, 2007. continue
