Wayne County
Taxpayers Conducted Over One Million Searches For
Property Tax Information Since Website's Launch in January 2004
Wayne County Treasurer Raymond J. Wojtowicz announces that nearly $2 million in
taxes have been collected through the Wayne County Treasurer?s Office website -
www.treasurer.waynecounty.com - since
the office began offering the service on its website in July 2004.
"We've collected nearly $2 million in taxes in only seven months, and this
outstanding result demonstrates the need for this service and the value our residents receive
from it," said Wojtowicz. "We created the website to make it easier for Wayne County
taxpayers to do business with the Wayne County Treasurer?s Office, and the results
show that our approach is working."
In addition, Wayne County Treasurer Wojtowicz reports that over one million searches
for both real and personal property tax information have been performed since the
website was launched in January 2004. Properties in all Wayne County municipalities
can be searched by parcel ID number or street address free of charge, and website
users can also pay delinquent property taxes on the site.
Wayne County taxpayers can pay their taxes via electronic debit of their checking
or savings accounts. Online tax payments and searches for property tax information
are each offered to Wayne County taxpayers free of charge, and can be used 24 hours a day, seven days a
week.
"While several Michigan counties charge taxpayers a fee for online tax payments,
property tax searches and other services, I offer them free of charge because I
believe in making the Wayne County Treasurer?s Office open and accessible at all
times," said Wojtowicz.
