Wayne County Treasurer, Raymond J. Wojtowicz, is sponsoring a Financial
Hardship Application Workshop for Wayne County taxpayers on March 8, 2006. The
workshop will take place at the International Center Building, 400 Monroe, 3 rd
floor, Suite 320, in downtown Detroit (Greektown), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Taxpayers can stop by during these hours for individual assistance. This is the
final workshop for 2003 delinquent taxes. The workshop is free.
Difficult economic concerns due to job loss, wage reductions, and increased
utility, gas and other household costs have resulted in a significant rise in
inquiries about extended time to pay delinquent taxes. The workshop seeks to
assist eligible taxpayers with the challenges they may be experiencing. This
year's approved applicants will have until March 1, 2007, to pay 2003
delinquent taxes.
Taxpayers who would like to learn more about eligibility or obtain an
application may visit our website at

The detailed website information is also attached on this release.
Attorneys for the United Community Housing and the Legal Aid & Defender
Association of Detroit will be available to assist taxpayers with eligibility
needs.
Hardship applications have been available for property owners who live on the
property as their primary residence and meet certain income standards since the
inception of Michigan Public Act 123 of 1999.
