Major Drug Unit
The Major Drug Unit (MDU) is a four person unit assigned to prosecute cases involving large quantities of controlled substances , including cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and marijuana. The MDU works closely with all levels of law enforcement to investigate high-level narcotics trafficking from the search warrant stage to the sentencing stage.
Frequently, firearms and large amounts of currency are also involved in cases where large amounts of narcotics are found. Defendants at this level of the narcotics trade are often highly organized and take steps necessary to protect their enterprise and the proceeds which are generated from it.
