Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Cedric Jackson, 59, of Detroit, in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 10-year-old Detroit girl.

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., it is alleged that the defendant lured the victim into his house in the 15700 block of Braille, kidnapped her, and sexually assaulted her. After the assault he released her from his house. She was taken to a local hospital after the sexual assault where she was examined and released.

On April 17, 2024, the victim did not return home after school and her mother reported her missing to Detroit Public School (DPS) officials. Information obtained by DPS officials led to the location of Jackson. A DPS police officer took the defendant into custody and called the Detroit Police Department, who investigated the case. Further facts and evidence in the case will be placed on the record at the Preliminary Examination in this matter.

Cedric Jackson has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree ( victim under 13-17), Kidnapping, and Unlawful Imprisonment.* He was arraigned and remanded to jail today in 36th District Court before Magistrate William Burton. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 29, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 6, 2024, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Kenneth King.

"Predators are very good at what they do - especially sexual predators. The alleged actions of this defendant targeted a ten-year-old girl. It is difficult to understand that there are those who would sexually assault victims who are ten, and even younger. No matter how long we do this work, it gets us in the gut every time," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
