In honor of Black History Month, the "From Baseline to the River: The Abolition and Underground Railroad Movements" program will take place on Thursday, February 27, from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM at Nankin Mills Interpretive Center.

This event explores the rich history and heritage of the Underground Railroad (UGRR) movement in western Wayne County and Downriver. From western Wayne County communities, such as Canton and Nankin (modern-day Westland), Romulus, to the southwest region, we will explore different areas of the county that once served as a refuge for Freedom Seekers who escaped slavery. This program is recommended for ages 13 and older.
