Detroit Mother Charged in Homicide of Infant Son

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Rhionna Nichols, 20 (DOB: 02/13/1999), of Detroit, in connection with the death of her 20-month-old infant son.

On December 5, 2019 at approximately 5:00 p.m., EMS technicians responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive infant in the 19300 block of Kentucky Street in Detroit. Upon arrival, the medics located an unconscious infant and transported him to a local hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. It is alleged that the defendant caused fatal head trauma resulting in his death. Nichols was placed under arrest. The facts and evidence of the case will be presented at the Preliminary Examination.

Nichols has been charged with Felony Murder, First Degree Child Abuse and Torture.* She was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for December 20, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 27, 2019. Both hearings are before 36th District Court Judge Kenyetta Stanford. The defendant was remanded to jail. Please request a photo of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.

Good Samaritan Robbed by 19-Year-Old Man

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Cawuan Antonio Cunningham, 19 (DOB: 07/02/2000), no known address, in connection with the robbery of an 86-year-old man from Detroit.

On December 4, 2019 at approximately 11:46 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the area of Marseilles Street and Rockcastle Street in Detroit for an unarmed robbery call. Upon arrival, the officers discovered the 86-year-old male victim from Detroit. The victim gave the defendant a ride to Marseilles Street and Rockcastle Street in Detroit. When they reached the location, it is alleged that the defendant robbed the victim of his money and fled the scene on foot. Investigation to the Detroit police officers led to the arrest of Cunningham nearby.

Cunningham has been charged with Unarmed Robbery and Larceny from a Person.* He was arraigned yesterday afternoon in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for December 20, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lynise Bryant in 36th District Court. Alexander Boyko, 26, (DOB: 11/3/1993), of Livonia - Boyko, a local tattoo artist was arrested yesterday on a warrant with three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct Fourth Degree.* These charges are high misdemeanors carrying a maximum penalty of 2 years. The victim in the case is now 25, of Redford Township. She has alleged that from April to June of 2015, the defendant had inappropriate sexual contact with her in Plymouth. Today the defendant was arraigned in 35th District Court before Judge Michael Gerou. The defendant received a 50,000/10% bond, with a tether, no travel outside of Michigan, and no tattooing women without supervision. The Probable Cause Conference is on December 20,2019 and the Preliminary Examination is on December 27, 2019. Please contact the Plymouth Police Department for a photograph.
