Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Fredrick Larry Williams 52, (DOB: 01/10/1968) of Taylor, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of his 28-year-old son.

On May 14, 2020, at approximately 9:11 a.m., Taylor police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 25000 block of Myler Street Taylor in response to a possible shooting. Upon arrival, the officers discovered two individuals outside, in front of the residence. One of the individuals was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. It is alleged that after an argument with his son escalated into a physical altercation, Defendant Williams fired a handgun, striking the victim.

Williams has been charged with Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault, Carless Discharge of a Weapon and two counts of Felony Firearm.*

Williams was arraigned on May 16, 2020 in 34th District Court in Romulus. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 18, 2020 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 27, 2020 in 23rd District Court. The defendant received a $50,000 cash bond.
