walk michigan Walk Michigan is an annual fitness program organized by MRPA to promote good health and to highlight the many recreational facilities in Michigan. Walkers of all ages have an opportunity to participate in walks sponsored by Wayne County Parks.

To register for a Walk Michigan event, attend the event and fill out a registration card. The cards will be entered in a drawing for the grand prize, a trip for two to Mackinac Island and the Governor’s Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk.

  • Crosswinds Marsh – in Sumpter Township on the corner of Haggerty Road and Will Carlton/Oakville Waltz Road

  • Holliday Nature Preserve (Cowan Section) – in Westland. Located across the street from Service Merchandise near Westland Mall

  • Merriman Hollow – in Westland, on Hines Drive, west of Merriman Road

  • Nankin Mills – In Westland, on Hines Drive, east of Ann Arbor Trail

  • Newburgh Point – in Livonia, on Hines Drive between Haggerty and Newburgh

  • Warrendale Area – in Dearborn Heights, on Hines Drive, east of Telegraph

  • Waterford Bend Park – In Northville, corner of Six Mile and Northville Rds

  • Wilcox Shelter – in Plymouth, Hines Drive between Northville Rd and Wilcox

The Grand Prize

Two trips for two to Mackinac Island and the Governor's Annual Bridge Walk are offered by Wayne County Parks.

  1. Overall drawing of all registration cards from August 2005-July 2006 will take place on the scheduled walk on July 22. Everyone is eligible for this drawing.

  2. Special drawing for individuals who have never been a Walk Michigan prize winner in Wayne County Parks and participated in 10 or more walks from April 2006-July 2006. The drawing will take special place following the walk on July 22.
