MAJOR ACTIVITIES & DESCRIPTIONS
• ADMINISTRATION
Provide overall department management and direction.
• COUNTY FUNDS
Manages and operates automated Cash and Investment Concentration Programs [CICP] providing daily cash tracking and reconciliations, fund account tracking and reporting, Investment Management System and Interest allocation.
• INVESTMENTS
Invests all County funds in order to maximize yield, while judiciously protecting the safety and security of those funds.
• TRUST FUNDS
Custodian of funds held in trust.
• TAXES
Enforces general property tax laws and collects delinquent taxes on all Real and Personal Property within the County. For further information, please contact 313-224-5990.
• CERTIFICATION
Certifies tax searches, deeds, plats and other instruments of title.
• DELINQUENT TAX FUNDS
The Wayne County Treasurer, under the authority of the State of Michigan, participates in the Delinquent Tax Revolving Fund Program, which is an alternate method of collecting delinquent property taxes. All communities and school districts participate under the Delinquent Tax Revolving Fund program. Under the Michigan Public Act 246 of 2003, the City of Detroit began participating with tax year 2003. The program has proven beneficial to all participants.

The office of the County Treasurer is responsible to the people of Wayne County for the effective and efficient administration of the Property Tax Collection, and through operation of our “State of the Art” Cash Management System, responsible for receipt, custody, investment and disbursement of all County funds. The 2007 Wayne County Property Auction came to a close at a surprisingly early 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, with a bare handful of not quite 20 registered bidders remaining in the audience.
On June 1, the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office mailed out a record-breaking total of 148,856 notices to Wayne County property owners for 2006 property taxes that were returned to Wayne County as delinquent from the County’s 43 municipalities.

On June 1, 2007, the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office will mail out a record-breaking total of 148,856 notices for 2006 property taxes that have been returned to Wayne County as delinquent from the County’s 43 municipalities.
According to the most recent data, the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office has collected a grand total of $37,464,638 in property taxes for the month of March, 2007. This amount is a 24.6 percent increase over the March 2006 collection total of $30,057,183
Wayne County Treasurer Raymond J. Wojtowicz will be sending representatives from his office to do personal visits with the owners and renters of 1,934 properties whose 2004 delinquent property taxes remain unpaid
