Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged four Detroit juvenile males, ages 13, 14, 15 and 16, in connection with a carjacking of an 88-year-old Detroit man who is a decorated Tuskegee Airman. The carjacking occurred at Harper & Van Dyke on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at approximately 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. It is alleged that the one of the youths held a gun to the victim's face and the three other juveniles moved the victim away from his vehicle and took his keys. They got into the car and left the area. Police investigation led to the arrest of the four juveniles, who were taken into custody on March 3, 2013.

All four juvenile respondents had a preliminary hearing today at 1:30 p.m. in the Juvenile Detention Center located at 1326 St. Antoine in Detroit. The pretrial date given for all four respondents was March 20, 2013 @ 1:30 p.m. in front of Referee Wilson at LHJ. Three of the four respondents were given a $50,000 cash/surety bond and the fourth respondent was given a $75,000 cash/surety bond.
