Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Brenitaze Moore, 29, of Harper Woods, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 25-year-old Detroit woman. The victim was the girlfriend of the defendant at the time of the incident.

On December 21, 2023, at approximately 8:04 a.m., at a residence in the 18900 block of Woodcrest Street in Harper Woods, it is alleged that a verbal altercation between the defendant and the victim escalated into a physical altercation. As the victim entered her car to leave the residence, it is further alleged that the defendant produced and fired a handgun multiple times through the driver side window, striking the victim in the lower abdomen, non-fatally wounding her.

Defendant Moore was recently located and extradited from Delaware to Michigan. He arrived in Michigan on April 12, 2024. On April 13, 2024, the defendant was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felonious Assault, four counts of Felony Firearm, and Domestic Violence.*

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on April 13, 2024, in 36th District Court. All weekend arraignments are held in 36th District Court in Detroit. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 24, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., before Judge Rebekah Coleman in 32A District Court in Harper Woods.
