Drains: The Facilities Management Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 500 established drainage districts extending over 1,500 miles, and all ancillary facilities to the drains.

CSO Basins and Wastewater Transport Systems: This unit maintains and operates a number of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) retention treatment basins as well as wastewater conveyance systems that transport wastewater to the wastewater system operated by the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA). The wastewater transport systems, including the Rouge Valley Sewage Disposal System, serve 14 Wayne County communities and also transport flow from parts of Oakland County to the GLWA. The Division is responsible for maintaining the interceptors, all associated pump and lift stations, and an extensive flow monitoring system.
