Business Office: The Business Office is responsible for the financial management and reporting of over $140 million in revenues received annually from our customers. The Business Office is also responsible for the administrative functions of the County's drainage districts, along with customer service, quality and productivity initiatives across the Division. The most aggressive program currently underway is the implementation of the Comprehensive Assessment and Master Plan Project, commonly referred to as C.A.M.P.P.
Drains: The Facilities Management Division is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 500 established drainage districts extending over 1,500 miles, and all ancillary facilities to the drains.
Wastewater Treatment Facilities: The unit operates Wayne County's Downriver Sewage Disposal System, including the Downriver Wastewater Treatment Facility, capable of treating 225 million gallons of raw sewage per day (mgd) serving a combined population of approximately 415,200.
Industrial Pretreatment Program: The Industrial Pretreatment Program monitors the processes and discharges of sanitary wastes from industries in the Downriver System. Its duties include issuing permits, inspections, sampling and lab work, monitoring and enforcement.
CSO Basins and Wastewater Transport Systems: This unit maintains and operates a number of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) retention treatment basins as well as wastewater conveyance systems that transport wastewater to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) facilities. The wastewater transport systems, called the Northeast Sewage Disposal System and the Rouge Valley Sewage Disposal System, serve 18 Wayne County communities and also transport flow from parts of Oakland and Macomb Counties to DWSD. The Division is responsible for maintaining the interceptors, all associated pump and lift stations, and an extensive flow monitoring system. This group is located at the Downriver Wastewater Treatment Facility located in Wyandotte.
