Wayne County Parks has a variety of programs available in May for all ages!
Saturday in the Park starts on Saturday, May 5 and continues through September 29. Hines Drive will be closed to car traffic for six miles (from Outer Drive to Ann Arbor Trail) each Saturday from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM for the public to run, walk, skate or cycle safely! Parking is available at Helms Haven Park and at Nankin Mills Park.
Nankin Mills Interpretive Center Adult Outdoor Hikes
Explore some of the hidden treasures of Wayne County Parks with the Park Naturalist. May hikes include:
Bird Hike on May 5 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Ellsworth section of the Holliday Nature Preserve
Wildflower Hike on May 12 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Cowan section of the Holliday Nature Preserve
Lower Rouge River Hike on May 26 from 10:00 AM - Noon at Lower Rouge Parkway in Canton
*You must pre-register for the hikes by calling (734) 261-1990.
Crosswinds Marsh Interpretive Wetland
Crosswinds Canoeing on Saturday May 5 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The canoe are open and it's time to enjoy a peaceful paddle through the marsh. No pre-registration is required for this program.
Nature Fest on Saturday, May 19 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. This FREE nature oriented event will feature live entertainment, nature crafts and games, fishing and free canoeing.
