Court Services

Cathy M Garret is the Clerk of the Court for the Third Judicial Circuit Court in Wayne County, Michigan. The Clerk's Office is responsible for assisting the 3 divisions of the Circuit Court with its many functions. The criminal division is located in Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, the civil division is located in the Coleman A. Yong Municipal Center, and the juvenile division is located in The criminal division of the Clerk's Office is responsible for initiating and maintaining adult criminal felony cases which are received from the 24 District Courts in Wayne County, in addition to initiating District Court Appeals, and accepting Applications to Set Aside Convictions.Lincoln Hall of Justice.


Crimal Court Services

The criminal division of the Clerk's Office is responsible for initiating and maintaining adult criminal felony cases which are received from the 24 District Courts in Wayne County, in addition to initiating District Court Appeals, and accepting Applications to Set Aside Convictions.


Civil Court Services:

The Civil/Family division of the Wayne County Clerk's Office is responsible for initiating and maintaining files for the civil and family matters which includes all Civil laws suits over $25,000, Appeals from district courts and administrative agencies, Divorces, Custody, Paternity, Child Support, Personal Protection Orders, Extreme Risk Protection Orders, Emancipation of Minors, Name Changes and Infectious disease cases.

We also handle request to lift Construction Lien, swearing in of new Attorneys, Hawk and Vendor License, registering DD214 and Oath of Offices.


Juvenille Court Services:

The juvenile division is responsible for two types of cases, abuse, neglect and delinquency, involving minors. Juvenile Court Services is responsible for the receipt, filing, maintenance and retrieval of the physical court legal file for court proceedings, duplication and for certification of all records. Juvenile Court services responds to questions from delinquents, law enforcement agencies, social workers, probation officers and the general public
