Marriage License Application

Marriage Licenses Are Being Issued By Appointment Only. Please Follow The Steps Below. Click the Blue Tab for the Application Website.
Go online to evitals.waynecounty.com/onlinefiling and comple the online application. (Click Here to go to website.)

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS - PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW. THANK YOU.

1) After Completng the Application, Email Your Assigned 4-Digit Pin Number To: cwhitman@waynecounty.com and gpeterson@waynecounty.com

2) In the email include: Your Name / 4-Digit Pin / Your Contact Phone Number / Anticipated Wedding Date

3) Due To The High Volume of Calls, Emails, and Appointments, Please Allow Up to 14 days For Someone To Respond To Your Request. If Your Wedding is Approaching Within 5 days, Please Contact 313-405-6784 For Assistance.

4) The Office of the Wayne County Clerk Will Respond toYour Email With: An Appointment Day/ Date/ Time

5) Due to CDC Social Distancing Standards, Only One Person Is Required For the Appointment.

  • At least one individual from the couple must appear in person to apply.

  • The marriage license must be used in the State of Michigan.

  • Blood tests are not required for a marriage license.

  • Only Wayne County residents can apply. (If both parties live out of state, you may apply in Wayne County and the wedding MUST be performed in Wayne County.)

  • Every person must present a certified copy of their birth certificate. (If you do not have a certified birth certificate, please see other acceptable documents.)
