(Wayne County, MI) - The Wayne County Clerk's current active Passport Acceptance Agency status will be deactivated - indefinitely - at close of business on Friday, May 27, 2011. This deactivation was spurred by an increasingly low level of processing requests, coupled with limited staff resources.

"Although we would love to continue offering passport services to the community, both the low number of service requests and our budgetary guidelines have led us to the conclusion that this termination is necessary in order for us to continue providing other great services to the community," explained Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett.

While Wayne County residents can visit any post office to obtain passport services, the closest locations to the Wayne County Clerk's office are:

  • 100 Renaissance Center; Suite 1014, Detroit, MI 48243
    • Passport Service Hours: 9 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday
  • 1401 West Fort Street; Suite 1006, Detroit, MI 48226
    • Passport Service Hours: 10 am - 12 pm, 4 pm - 7 pm, Monday - Friday

Because of the close proximity of these locations to the Wayne County Clerk's office, residents will not be inconvenienced. Clerk Garrett can now further ensure that the rest of her office's offered services are adequately provided to residents throughout Wayne County.
