Alisha Bell (D-Detroit) was re-elected as Wayne County Commission chair by her fellow commissioners during their Jan. 7 organizational meeting. Chair Bell was first elected to the commission in 2002 and has served as its chair since 2019. "I am grateful to my constituents and to my fellow commissioners for the trust they have placed in me," Chair Bell said. Also re-elected as commission officers were Vice-Chair Joseph Palamara (DGrosse Ile Township) and Commission Vice-Chair Pro-Tempore Sam Baydoun (DDearborn). Chair Bell represents the 7th District, which mostly includes city neighborhoods south of I-96. Vice-Chair Palamara represents the 15th District including Grosse Ile, Riverview, Southgate, Trenton, Wyandotte and part of Allen Park. The dean of the commission, he has served on the commission since 1999. Vice-Chair Pro-Tempore Baydoun represents the 13th District, including Dearborn and parts of Allen Park. He has served on the commission since 2019.
