Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jenna Shi, 17, (DOB: 01/08/2004), in connection with assaulting her father, Guangjie Shi, 50, with a moving vehicle. Both parties are Canton residents.

On April 19, 2021, at approximately 4:44 p.m., Canton police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Liberty and Stanton in Canton for a man who was injured from being thrown from the hood of a moving vehicle. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment to his injuries. It is alleged that an argument between the defendant and the victim escalated before the victim jumped on the hood of the moving vehicle while Defendant Shi tried to leave. It is further alleged that the defendant was driving the car while her father was thrown from the vehicle.

"The alleged facts in this case clearly reflect a family in crisis. Today's times are exceedingly difficult. There is no shame in admitting that you help. Please seek that help for yourself and/or your family when you need it," said Prosecutor Worthy.

Jenna Shi has been charged with Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm and Reckless Driving Causing Serious Injury. * She was arraigned on April 21, 2021 in 35th District Court and given a $100,000 bond and ordered to have no contact with her father. Her Probable Cause Conference is on April 30, 2021 before Judge Michael Gerou and her Preliminary Examination is on May 10, 2021 before Judge Ronald Lowe in 35th District Court.
