Canton Man Charged in Fatal Shooting Death of 8-Year-Old Son
Prosecutor Worthy has charged Nicholas A. Bennett, 33 (DOB: 05/01/1987), of Canton in connection with the fatal shooting of his eight-year-old son.
On December 15, 2020 at 3:54 p.m. at a home located in the 41020 block of Old Michigan Avenue in Canton it is alleged that Bennett was busy working on his rifle and fatally shot his son who was with him in the room. Canton Police officers were immediately called to the scene and the child was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Further facts and evidence will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.
Bennett has been charged with Involuntary Murder. * He was arraigned this morning in 35th District County in Plymouth. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 29, 2021 at 10:50 a.m. and his Preliminary Examination is scheduled for February 5, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. before Judge Michael Gerou. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Canton Police.
