Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Nassim Moustapha Messelmani, 30, (DOB: 10/30/1991), of Westland, in connection with the fatal shooting of Edward McClendon, 72, of Detroit. Defendant Messelmani was the in-home caregiver for Mr. McClendon.

On November 18, 2021, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 19710 block of Robson Street in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim face down on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head and stab wounds to the stomach and chest.

It is alleged that the defendant stabbed Mr. McClendon multiple times then fired a shotgun, fatally wounding him, before fleeing the scene. Defendant Messelmani turned himself into the authorities later the same day.

Nassim Moustapha Messelmani has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, and one count of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on November 21, 2021 in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for December 1, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 8, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.
